We’re Sohail and Sara Zandi, this is Brushland Eating House.
Ours is a story of love & dedication, which led from New York City to Martha’s Vineyard, with farms and the Atlantic Ocean and great restaurant’s as backdrops, to land in Bovina, New York in the Spring of 2014. Kismet is all that can be said for our meeting, and we tacked on devotion and hardwork to create the pillars of this dining room, housed in a sturdy, turn-of-the-century mansard building on Main Street. For ten years now, we - a New Jersey-born Iranian kid and a girl from Florida that clutches tightly to her PA Dutch sensibilities - have been living our version of a dream come true: making great food, hosting warmly and raising daughter’s in a corner of the world that makes us most happy. We celebrate the ordinary, cheers often, and will never stop screaming about how grateful we are for all of it. Our mission on a nightly basis is to show you what magic is created in a dining room full of rumbling bellies and wide eyes, what fun can be had on the most mundane of Thursday’s, if you just let it. As intimate as eating is, as beautiful as Bovina proves, as curious as people can be, there is just no other way than to have a good time. We worked too hard and care too much, not to.
Can’t wait to have you here,
Sohail, Sara, Violet & Zaffa
